Chabad of Stony Brook responds to the challenges to Jewish awareness in central Suffolk County and throughout Long Island with the best answers to apathy and assimilation: Jewish education and pride. Chabad has welcomed all Jews since its 1980 establishment, regardless of background or affiliation. This type of Ahavat Yisrael, unconditional love for every Jew, is its hallmark and driving force. Rabbi Chaim Grossbaum, Stony Brook Regional Director, encourages every positive action on the part of every Jew. Under his leadership, Chabad recognizes the efforts of every organization, synagogue or group to increase Jewish awareness. Chabad is proud of its popular Torah Tots Preschool and Hebrew School directed by Mrs. Rivkie Grossbaum. Its Merrin-Bienenfeld Friendship Circle Program for special-needs children, led by Chanie Grossbaum, is receiving a wonderful response. And the Rachelle and Henry Dreznick Lecture Series, established by their son, Dr. Elliott Dreznick, continues to enthrall, entertain, educate and stimulate attendees year-round. These are just some of the valuable contributions Chabad of Stony Brook has made to the community over the past two decades.
